Should I watch Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e?

LA is the narrator

What LA sees in Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e is not of "human equality" though it plays a factor, more on the lines of "humans have more than one side to themselves and you can never know what a person is truly like in society".

Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e is touted as in extremely polarizing anime from Summer 2017, either being too up it's own philosophies of human society with blatant fanservice and a cliche storm disguising itself as smart or an anime that is actually intelligent and able to relay it's messages of human society well. LA is on the latter however the detractors do have points to them as well.

Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e's cast is quite large immediately with 4 classes consisting of 20+ students then there are the staff and teachers to deal with, at best Class D gets the majority of the focus but even then it's still limited to Kiyotaka Ayanokouji voiced by Shouya Chiba, Suzune Horikita voiced by Akari Kito and Kikyou Kushida voiced by Yurika Kubo, the rest of the Class D are either wheels for Ayanokouji and Suzune or they have a character arc along with them. Now Ayanokouji is by in large a rather complex yet emotionless character justifying his way to help people only by giving glory to someone else in order for him to be left alone but even then we can't really get a hold of him let alone his extremely vague past or what he is thinking. If there was anything LA would place on Ayanokouji would be the matter of him being the audience proxy to what this kind of classism hierarchy structure of a school society would do to someone where society is forcing him to act. Suzune is a more reactionary character to Ayanokouji and although her character development to opening up to people in order for her own goal of reaching Class A, she is still an interesting character to LA, LA doesn't know maybe it's LA's affinity to tsundere's. Kushida on the other hand well she was a surprise if anything but she like Ayanokouji are similar a brings up LA's statement of "humans have more than one side to themselves". Due to the large cast however the majority of characters that are not important to the plot or situation does get shafted ALOT though they too are reactionary characters to some of the plot twists at hand. Before LA does get into LA's favourite character in Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e LA would like to talk about the rivals of Class D, those being Kouhei Katsuragi voiced by Satoshi Hino and Arisu Sakayanagi voiced by Rina Hidaka of Class A who are the prim and proper yet tactically cunning rivals to Ayanokouji and Suzune to Kakeru Ryuuen voiced by Masaaki Mizunaka of Class C who is the laid back yet street-smarts backstabbing rival to EVERYONE in the school. LA doesn't want to go too deep into it, but LA suggests it reflects what people would do to get to the top as well as those with power to gather power to suppress the commoners and less intelligent. So LA's favourite character....you'd think it was Suzune but no! it was Honami Ichinose from Class B voiced by Nao Touyama.......yes shut up.

LA will note that this anime does add in blatant amount of fanservice from chest to ass shots to it's almost uselessly annoying pool episode and all but as much as it's blatant it is it doesn't discourage the plot or characters in any way (besides THAT POOL EPISODE) and is just another element for Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e that doesn't deter THAT much from the plot and characters.

Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e's philosophical ramblings, LA does think have relevance in this anime and sure HOW it was displayed is tacted on at times especially with the episodes titles being quotes from famous literature and sayings about human society but even with quotes characters say about the situation they are in mainly coming from Ayanokouji and Class D's teacher Sae Chabashira voiced by Rina Sato where Ayanokouji and by extension the entire Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e cast are weaving, bumping, streamlining and surviving in the little school society they have made for themselves whereas in say Sakurada Reset, them trying to "sound" philosophical comes out as not trying at all so that they can only "sound smart and deep" when in reality it's naval gazing as it's most boring bringing nothing to the table. Sure people might think the philosophies used in Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e are just for show but that's kinda what philosophy is about you either believe in it or not and in this case, whether you believe Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e added in their philosophy correctly or not...it's completely up to you.

The animation by Lerche is actually great all things considered, from the flashy uniforms of the majority of the characters to some distinct character designs even from a large cast as big as this. The animation also has some striking "No Game, No Life" purple glare on effects LA did notice and was done well in nonetheless. The mood and atmosphere on the animation is also nicely conveyed through colors, shading and atmosphere and was also done to striking effect, from the grayed out blackness symbolizing dread and despair from the end of the first episode to the more tense moments giving us the more striking intense red. LA just loves this color palette Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e had. What can LA say, the animation was great and expected from Lerche in their extremely overboard high school animes.

As for voice acting, well there are some standouts and no Ayanokouji your obviously not one of them, what with Shouya Chiba's deadpan vocals all throughout the anime. Yes LA could easily give the best voice acting to Nao Touyama, but LA......actually like Akari Kito as Suzune more, if not because of here rare dere moments. What was a surprise was Yurika Kubo as Kushida as this is ANOTHER side of her vocals LA has NOT seen at all and it is glorious to say the least, LA just wished LA could hear it more and because of that LA absolutely commends Yurika Kubo for her role as Kushida.

Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e is alot of things, from typical high school anime with a gimmick, philosophical and character studies on human society, fanservicey distracted plot or just simply a great anime or a terrible one. Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e for LA is not merely an anime about human society and their equality, it's also about how humans can't ever even if they tried truly know someone and it felt for LA to be perfectly manifested in Ayanokouji our main central narrative character and how he deals with things in his classism-like school society. Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e is definitely not LA's favourite anime of Summer 2017 nor do LA thinks it's the "MOST HOLY FUCK PHILOSOPHICAL ANIME EVAR" far from it, it's more like a decent interesting kind of anime from LA's experience. But with how polarizing this anime has become LA thinks you should watch it and see for yourself what Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e is, not out of necessity but intrigue.
