8 Anime Shows You Should Watch This Fall (2018)

Every year anime fans fight to get caught up on their anime lists, and Lord knows, we have so much to watch.

There are shows both old and new that we need to scratch off our lists, but the plethora of anime that get released each season can be so daunting. It makes it difficult to keep up with your original list while adding so many more to the agenda.

Well, I hope this post can be of some help to you, friend :)

Because I've gone through the Fall line-up and there are eight shows in particular that I think stood out from the rest! These are either too important or too interesting to ignore, so let's get this train rolling!

Here are 8 anime you should check out this Fall!

The Final Season of Fairy Tail

I know it's not a new show, but this is going to be a must watch for any Fairy Tail fan. Love it or hate it, this long-running show needed an ending and now that it's getting one, it deserves to be on this list.

Goblin Slayer

The fan-favorite manga Goblin Slayer is now getting its own anime adaptation, and from what I hear it's going to be quite a ride! This anime is going to be dark, action-packed, and not for the faint of heart. It's full of violence, gore, mature themes, and there's no guarantee that it'll be censored. So if you were looking for a fluffy fantasy anime this season, you should stay FAR AWAY from this one!

But if you're into more mature anime, you should know that it's a Seinen often compared to Berserk. If you like dark fantasy shows and want to see a crazy amount of goblin slaying, this show's going to be for you!

Sword Art Online: Alicization

Well, at least the SAO fans will be happy X)

In this sequel show (or the new arc? I really don't know), Kirito is trapped (yes, again) in a fantasy video game world, but this time around there are sentient NPC's.

If this new twist on the original show has you interested, or you're already a fan then this should be on your list.

Golden Kamuy Season 2

Golden Kamuy was one of the spring season's stand-outs as a really cool, severely weird and enjoyable anime. If it was love at first sight for you, then you'll be overjoyed to hear it's getting a season 2 this October!

That's right! The 'Immortal Sugimoto' and Asirpa are coming back soon, and you're not going to want to miss the new adventures they take to find that Ainu gold!

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

Yes, that's the actual name of the anime.

This anime is an adaptation of the manga, and follows an MC who's been killed and reincarnated as a slime! How bizarre does that sound? If you're looking for an interesting fantasy show with an original premise, then you should keep an eye out for this one ;)

DOUBLE DECKER! Doug and Kirill

This one sends us back to the world of Tiger and Bunny! The anime is being referred to as an "original buddy cop drama" spin-off, and so far it looks AMAZING. Just watch the trailer to see if it's for you, but considering the way this is being described, what's not to like?

Karakuri Circus

In case the image above didn't spell it out for you, this show looks like it's aiming to be a mix of surreal and creepy. It's being adapted from the original manga and has an interesting premise. The story is about a boy called Masaru Saiga, who wants to be a puppeteer. He inherits a fortune after his father's death and, no surprise, everybody wants it.

We'll be taken on unique adventures with the MC and his friends. This anime is mysteriously enticing and if you're into this type of show (or really like circus related media), give it a try. I know I will!

Wonder if it will have clowns?

... Oh no.

Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-San

Boy, there's no end to the bizarre anime this season, is there?

This one is also based on a manga, and it's about a skeleton who works at a bookstore and all the hilarity that ensues. The show isn't for me, but if you like comedy and think the synopsis is too good to ignore, then this might be your favorite show of the season.

Thank you so much for reading!

Hopefully, this will help narrow down your watch list this Fall. Either way, this season will be interesting indeed. What did you think of this list? Did any of these interest you?

6 Anime That Need a Remake

Welcome back, everybody!

Today we'll be taking a look at anime that could benefit from a remake.

Let's begin!

Trigun

Trigun is a beloved classic but let's be honest here, the animation is starting look pretty dated... actually, it's been dated for quite a while. While nothing could truly replace it, it would benefit greatly from an animation makeover. Although this does mean we'd lose the incredible dub of the original, so there would be pros and cons to this, but still, Trigun is a series worth revisiting.

Berserk

Third time's the charm!

... That's all I've got to say. I think everyone's heard the same complaints and opinions on the recent anime attempts so I won't be repeating them here. But clearly, this is a manga that needs a proper adaptation.

Fate/Stay Night

Yes, yes I know about Unlimited Blade Works, but just because it already has a remake doesn't mean it's good.

I don't know how you guys feel about it, but this show bored the crap out of me. The pacing felt slow and it just wasn't very enjoyable. But credit where it's due, the animation looked FANTASTIC, but that just adds to my frustration. It was a well-polished version of a mediocre anime. A second chance was bound to improve the animation but it decided to ignore the opportunity to improve on the mediocre storytelling. A third go could turn Fate/Stay Night around for the better.

I don't know. Maybe I'm just being too picky, but after seeing what they were able to do with Fate/Zero, I expected a little more. Of course, this probably won't happen for a few years because of the recent reboot, but I think it could still be improved on in the future.

Akame Ga Kill

This one is in desperate need of a remake for so many reasons.

- It has a manga it could've followed but didn't
- It's full of wasted potential
- It couldn't decide whether it wanted to be dark and gritty, or a friendly adventure show
- The MC is bland, although that could be an issue in the manga too. Wouldn't know. Didn't read it
- THAT ENDING

As you can tell, this is something I'd really want to get remade. This anime had a lot of good things in it and had me hooked despite the many, many problems with it. This show was always its own worst enemy, and from what the manga fans tell me, this show could've been so much better.

Gun X Sword

This one is another love-hate relationship deal. Gun X Sword felt like two separate shows squished together. The two shows being:

- An action revenge drama (this being the best side of the show)
- A mediocre episodic Gundam

This might sound too harsh, but it proves to be an issue for the show as a whole. One episode you'll have a very dramatic and plot-relevant focus, and the next we're having a bikini war to the death between the female characters in a swimming pool... Yeah.

How can this show have one of the greatest villain reveals I've ever seen and still decide to have plenty of stupid for every other episode? This isn't the only problem though, it also suffers from bad pacing, tends to meander a lot, and has a few annoying characters.

However, there is so much to love here. Van as the lead character is always a joy to watch, the motivations and stories behind the MC and villain are well handled and interesting, the animation is good when it wants to be, the relationship between Van and the little girl is charming, and again, THAT VILLAIN REVEAL. But that's a post for another time.

One thing's for sure, this anime needs another go.

Every Manga Trailer Ever

You know what I'm talking about. The anime shows that were made just to get you interested in the manga so they could boost the sales... or something. At any rate, shows like:

Claymore
Deadman Wonderland
Btoom
Fruits Basket
Akame Ga Kill

- and so, so many more should be revisited. There's nothing more frustrating than getting pulled into a story only for it to get cut off at an unsatisfying point. Those cliffhangers and underwhelming endings still stick with us today, and to have any of them completed would work wonders.

Thank you so much for reading!

In Defense of Gateway Anime

Yes, it's true

There are a lot of cynical people in the anime community that think you're a tasteless noob if you just so happen to love a gateway anime. No doubt if you've sung praises to:

My Hero Academia
Attack on Titan
One Punch Man
Sword Art Online  (OG, not the new spin-off)

- you've been ridiculed for being a "filthy casual" or only capable of enjoying things that are new or action based.

If you think this is a new epidemic, you'd be wrong. These are the same sort of criticisms you'd get for liking:

Naruto
Bleach
One Piece
Fairy Tail
Pokemon

And it's a real shame. Too many long-term fans stick to anime from the 70's through 2001 and refuse to give props where a new show deserves it. Not everyone is like this, of course, but it does seem to be a problem with many.

But why is this?

There seems to be a negative stigma that if it's considered a gateway anime, it can't really be that clever or good. But this way of thinking needs to stop.

The shows in the image above have drawn in so many new anime fans, bringing more attention and appreciation to the anime universe as a whole. They all have merit and earned their respect in many regards, being greatly enjoyed and cherished ever since they were released.

None of them are perfect, but perfection doesn't exist. Anything can be picked to pieces if you really wanted to spend the time to do it.

So what's the big deal here?

Let's get straight to the point and discuss why gateway anime deserve our respect, and why zealous anime fans need to chill.

First off, what is a "gateway anime"?

A gateway anime is a popular show that makes it easy for newcomers to get into the anime world. This includes being a show that's so good it's often used as an easy way for a current fan to get a friend interested in the medium.

Or at least, this is the definition I'm going by.

Now that we've got the definition out of the way, let's jump on into the rest of the post!

Gateway Anime Are Special

Whoa, whoa, HOLD UP!

Put those pitchforks away and listen for a second.

I'm not saying SAO is a good show, I'm also not going to say it's trash...  but yes, SAO is an entirely different kind of "special". No matter what you think of Sword Art Online, it still deserves some respect.

It was able to capture the attention of people who wouldn't have watched anime otherwise.

And it did it with thousands of people in a very short amount of time!

It was the only show you'd hear about in comments and forums. It didn't matter if it was good or bad, it took the anime world by storm in a way no other anime had before.

How many shows have been able to do this?

With the internet and video game culture booming at the time, it was rather easy for newcomers to be interested in this show and its concept. Love it or hate it, few shows have done this as effectively as SAO. In fact, Attack on Titan is one of the few I think have, but I Attack on Titan has a bit more merit, so let's not put it in the same boat.

These gateway anime gain popularity that draws a lot of attention that other shows couldn't, getting the new generation into our beloved world of anime.

Think of it like taking your kid to Disney World for the very first time. They're discovering a whole new world and it's blowing their minds!

If you're a seasoned anime fan, why are you so bothered by this?

They'll find better shows and develop their taste, and even if they don't, what's it to you? Let people enjoy what they enjoy, and keep your nose out of their space. Yes, these fandoms can get annoying beyond belief, but if someone just enjoys a show, not claiming it to be the greatest ever made, just let em be :)

We can disagree all we want, have discussions and tell our side of the story, but they could be a completely new fan having seen their first or second anime.

No matter how good or bad a gateway show is, it's still quite an achievement that deserves recognition.

... And besides all that, NOT EVERY GATEWAY ANIME IS BAD.

This leads us to my next point.

Gateway Anime Usually Deserve Their Love... Usually

This may be a surprise, but I used to be pretty hesitant to try the popular anime even if it sounded like something I'd enjoy. But over the years I've been trying to break out of that ridiculous mentality because I'd be missing out on SO MANY amazing stories!

Think of the shows everyone was talking about a few years ago (or even currently).

Here they are (well, some of them anyway) broken down to what makes them so good.

One Punch Man

- An introspective superhero anime with the main character dealing with depression despite being the most powerful hero in the world. He can defeat any obstacle with one punch but that never makes the show bland or unexciting.

- This show has excellent comedy, music, and animation. It will give you the feels and make you laugh at the same time.

My Hero Academia

- A basic Shounen premise with an original story that defies expectations and gives us highly enjoyable, and highly developed characters we actually want to see more of.

- The story will suck you in and won't let you go due to its great storytelling. These characters are the stars of the show, feeling more and more like family to you by each passing episode. Very few shows have kept me interested in its characters so consistently. It's a ride you'll never want to end.

Attack on Titan

- An original world chocked full of mystery and incredible art with characters doing everything they can to preserve the future of humanity. They spend their efforts unlocking these mysteries while trying not to get eaten by zombie-like giants.  As more seasons come out the deeper the plot gets, leading to a complicated story and political thriller with all kinds of intrigue.

- The music and plot twists will keep you glued to your seat and keep you hyped and engaged. The gravity of humanity's situation and hopelessness is heavy and feels more real than any other survival show I've seen to date.

These are only THREE of the many high-quality gateway anime out there, and they should never be dismissed just because they're popular and new.

They all have something that makes them stand out and their stories are worth getting sucked into. With so many high-quality shows like these, they should never be dismissed as simply "a gateway anime" only suitable for the newbies.

Be you experienced or completely new to anime, these are shows that deserve a chance :)

Why You Guys Need To Chill

As you can imagine, most of the bashing comes from the "elitists" or long-time anime viewers. I've often heard people review a new and very popular show saying that -

(Not a direct quote, but paraphrased as a common line of thinking)

"It was clearly meant for the casual viewers and newcomers and has been heavily overrated. If you've been watching anime for a while, it's nothing special so you can ignore it. It appeals to people who don't know any better and is going after the edgy crowd. But what else can we expect from a gateway anime?"

...WHAT?!

Ehem, sorry for the momentary loss of professionalism but, WHAT?!

Okay, this is going to be heated. Of course, it wasn't a real quote but what sickens me is that people actually think like this, that they're above it, or something. If you search for videos on why a new anime show is popular, they typically mention that it aims for a specific crowd of edgy and rebellious teenagers and the like.

Because of this line of thinking, many of the elitists will simply dismiss a new and popular high-quality show as a gateway anime. True, the new anime shows can sometimes have a bit too much hype, but why is it okay for them to be dismissed as low-quality trash by the more experienced?

So to those of you who think you're above gateway anime, answer me this:

What was the first show or movie that got you into anime?

Was it:

Cowboy Bebop?
Trigun?
Legend of the Galactic Heroes?
Neon Genesis Evangelion?
Pokemon?
Akira?
My Neighbor Totoro?
Spirited Away?
Princess Mononoke?
Ghost in the Shell?
Ruroni Kenshin?
Hunter x Hunter?
Dragonball?
Or any Ghibli film?

... Then shut up about gateway anime!!!

Each of these movies and shows was popular when they came out and most of these got the US audience interested. Pokemon and Dragonball weren't high-quality shows but they still got you here, didn't they?

Anime wasn't well known in America back then, I get it. But by the anime standards at the time, those were popular. Every generation is going to have anime like this. Both the good and the bad manage to get people watching anime, and your generation is no exception.

So stop ragging on the new kids when YOU YOURSELF were pulled in with what was popular at the time!

Okay, that's it. I'm good.

But seriously guys, if this is a huge complaint of yours, just grow up. Because you had to get into anime in a similar fashion. The only difference is that it's happening faster and more people have a voice with the internet.

Thank you so much for reading!

I hope you all enjoyed this post. I'm probably a bit bias, but this is a subject that gets me riled up. I love anime, old and new, and if they're good shows they don't deserve this treatment.

Please let me know what your take on this was. Do you agree with this post? Or do you feel like breaking a violin over my head?

One Punch Man: The Power of Humanity and Heroism - Episodes 8 and 9 Analysis

Question: What makes these episodes stand out?

Well, the comedy is excellent, the animation is insane, and the music is pretty amazing too. But if you read the tagline for this post than you already know what I'm getting at:

The Power of Humanity and Heroism

As human beings, we all have a few things in common:

- We're all getting older
- We all pay taxes (right?)
- Our humanity

What do I mean by "humanity"?

Well, the interesting thing about innate humane behavior is that it can be kept or abandoned. If someone commits a murder, that's usually regarded as an inhuman act. People that let themselves commit terrible acts of evil are regarded as inhuman, and rightly so.

As human beings (even in a morally grey world) we have a basic understanding of good and evil. With all of the terrible things we see happening around us or hear on the news, sometimes we just want to be reminded of the better side of humanity.

Have you ever decided to watch YouTube videos about everyday heroes? Or people rescuing puppies? Videos like these remind us of the incredible heroism that we're all capable of if given the chance.

So what's my long-winded point?

Sometimes An Example of "Good Vs Evil" Can Move Us The Most

When we see something bad happen, we want something or someone to fix it. Because as human beings, we hate seeing evil win. So if you show a powerful evil force facing a heroic good, we get drawn in.

But this has to be done correctly in order to work effectively... and often isn't.

If badly handled, it just becomes another bland good guy vs bad guy fighting episode. In that situation, I think most of us would rather watch the bad guy win because it would just be more interesting.

But One Punch Man is one of the examples of where this works brilliantly, while also highlighting what the good side of humanity can contribute in such a hopeless fight.

Despite the vast morally grey areas that we have in the real world, such vivid expressions of "good" and "evil" can get us all on the same page, cheering or booing at the same time. These moments can move us to the core.

We all enjoy the morally complex villains and heroes, but isn't it sometimes more satisfying to see a hero face an irredeemable villain?

Let's talk about the Deep Sea King.

Seriously, what's this guy's deal? He wants to rule over both land and sea. Okay, so it's the take over the world kinda deal? Yep, it doesn't get any more basic than that but by the end of episode 8, we freaking HATE this guy!

That's not easy to do with the cliched "Imma gonna rule the world! Muhahaha!"

In any other context, this villain would simply be an annoyance, an expected cliche from a superhero show. But the villain's goal isn't what makes this representation of evil work, it's the sheer loathing that we have for him. There is no debating the evil we see in the Deep Sea King. We watch him tear apart our heroes in great numbers with his brutal attacks, and to make matters worse, he's getting stronger as he moves forward!
This hurts because we care about the heroes who failed to stop him, even if we've never seen them before this episode. Even though we didn't know them, we were rooting for them to win because we want to see good stop evil. Even Speed of Sound Sonic decided to jump in and help!  Seeing all of them get so brutally defeated and Deep Sea King getting ever closer to the helpless citizens makes us hope and pray that Saitama can get to him in time.

It becomes glaringly obvious that only a high caliber hero could take this beast out.

Enter Genos!

The False Hope

The cruelest thing you can do to your audience is give them a false hope in a moment of great desperation... but if you're a writer, that's precisely what you want to do! This will add more weight to what happens after the 'false hope' character fails.

This emotion manipulating tool in storytelling reminds us that we still have hope, and then suddenly crushes that hope in front of our eyes.

We see the Deep Sea King enter the... bunker? Is that what it's called? Anyway... We know that if this guy isn't stopped those people don't stand a chance. To make matters worse, we see another couple of heroes get destroyed. They knew it was pointless and we know their powers wouldn't be strong enough, but it came down to;

If we don't do something now, these people are going to die.

A very powerful mentality to have in a scary situation. This hits us because we know how scared these small-time heroes are. One of them has an inner monologue about how afraid he is. All of this adds to the tension and to the crushing reality that we know:

These guys can't stop him.

Then suddenly, BOOM! In comes Genos to save the day!

Film language tells us that when a strong hero from the main cast arrives, that everything's going to be okay. So what do we do when he shows up?

We cheer! We get excited! This fish guy is going to get his comeuppance, yeah!

But we were wrong... Despite his heroic efforts, he still fails to take out the villain. In fact, it's because of his heroism that he gets wrecked in the fight.

Genos sacrifices his robotic body to shield a little girl from Deep Sea King's acid spit. He knew it would make him worthless, but he couldn't bear to let the girl die when he could've stopped it.

Needless to say, after all of this we were all ready to see this guy get his butt decimated by Saitama. We know he has to get there. Everyone will die if he doesn't! So naturally, we expect him to arrive, saving Genos and the people just in time.

But who shows up?

Their Last Defense: Mumen Rider

It's at this point we hear:

"Justice crash!"

And as the bike slams into the back of the Deep Sea King, our hearts sink. Saitama still hasn't come, so the only thing left standing between the villain and his potential victims is one man.

- No powers
- No weapons
- No backup

We all knew what this would mean. If you're like me, inside you were saying:

"Mumen Rider, please don't die!"

Of all the heroes to come at a time like this, it wasn't an A class hero, it wasn't anyone with god-like powers, but a C class hero. A hero we've seen get wrecked by low-level thugs in a previous episode.

A man with nothing but a good heart determined to save lives.

Most of us held our breath. What can he do? We've learned to really like this character with limited screen-time, and don't want to see him get hurt or killed. We've seen the damage Deep Sea King inflicted on stronger heroes, so imagining Mumen Rider taking a similar hit was terrifying.

At this point in the episode, the music cuts out and we're left with nothing but the rain and the overwhelming feeling of dread.

Someone in the crowd says in disbelief;

"He came for us."

Because just like the audience, they were expecting a stronger hero to save the day, and for reasons beyond our understanding, he was the only one out of so many that came.

We watch as the Sea King toys with Mumen Rider, throwing him around, bashing him against the ground. When it tries to finish off Genos, Mumen Rider stops him using a "Justice tackle." A pointless attack but the best he can do.

He's thrown to the side with minimal effort, and it's apparent how much damage he's taking. He struggles to get back on his feet, blood running down his face. This scene gets harder to watch when we realize just how much Mumen Rider knows how weak he is. He's nothing but a man standing up to a monster. He admits that he's not strong enough to take the villain down.

"No one has to tell me I have no chance of beating you. I already know that! And yet, I must try. It's not about winning or losing! It's about me taking you on right here, right now!"

And that's the kicker.

We know he can't be much help, but in this dire situation, his heroism and humanity shine through. Because at the end of the day, all he can do is stand between this great evil and the innocent lives behind him.

For once in the show, we're not watching a villain get blown away by Saitama, but a single person doing what they can, powerless and alone for the sake of others. The crowd sees this and are deeply moved. Suddenly, a small child calls out to Mumen Rider cheering him on and the most emotional soundtrack of the show starts to play.

All of the adults start doing the same, and suddenly the whole crowd is standing up for Mumen Rider. The music swells, enhancing the emotions of the scene and powerful display of pure human heroism. Everyone knows how hopeless this all is, but they still choose to believe in him. This moment is absolutely heartbreaking.

Mumen Rider runs towards Deep Sea King and throws the biggest punch he can. The music cuts off when the huge fist of the beastly villain slams into him and he's thrown back a great distance. But suddenly, we know everything's going to be alright.

Saitama catches Mumen Rider before he could hit the ground, and a sigh of relief could be heard from around the world. One Punch Man fans couldn't have been more relieved.

Mumen Rider's best efforts (on top of the other heroes') were what saved the day. He was able to buy enough time for Saitama to come in and throw the punch we needed.

In my opinion, it's the display of humanity from all of these characters and a deep understanding of true heroism in this moment that makes this episode so powerful.  An impactful scene of good vs evil reminding us that heroism is far deeper than one's power or physical abilities.

Thank you so much for reading!

I hope you all enjoyed this post. If you couldn't tell, this is one of my all-time favorite anime moments, and I had a lot of fun writing this post X)

Favorite One Piece moments:

What is your favorite moment from One Piece (anime)?

Note: Feels guaranteed. Be prepared for it!
I love One Piece for it's emotional moments, badass moments and everyone's backstory!

Here's a list of my favorite moments:

Emotional Moments:

1. Brook sings Bink's Booze:
Brook's crew was dying one by one so they started singing a song for Laboon (whale) whom they promised to return to at the entrance of the Grand Line, but now unable to do so as they are all going to die in the sea. They recorded this song for Laboon so that Brook can deliver it to Laboon as he posses the Devil Fruit of coming back to life once dead.

2. Robin says, “I want to live. Take me back to sea with you.":
Caught by the world government, Robin knew that she cannot be saved now. But Luffy and his crew fights the world government and comes to rescue her because they consider her their nakama.

3. Nami Sulking from Arlong:
She worked as Arlong's navigator as Arlong promised her that he will leave her village but later declares that he tricked her.

4. Going Merry's Funeral:
Straw hats ship fought through thick-and-thin, and had helped them get to where they were. Even if it was an inanimate object, Merry still had spirit in her. This was a very sad moment, even for Usopp. Heck, after what Usopp was going through, it's no wonder. He even left the crew to make sure Merry pulls through, and she didn't. Usopp still held strong, though. Very touching to see his relationship burn away like that. Only Oda can make us cry at a boat.

5. The Straw Hats get Separated:
After challenging the World Government, Kuma turns out to be too powerful for the Straw Hats and the crew is forced to become separated for 2 years.

6. Death of Ace:

Ace is the son of late Pirate King, Gol D. Roger. Caught by the world government, he is supposed to be executed publicly. So Whitebeard, luffy and many others rages a war against the world government. But in turn of protecting Luffy from Admiral Akainu, Ace dies.

7. The Flag of Conviction:
This was a really inspiring moment for me. It really defined Luffy's character and resolve. The way he says that this is a flag you devote your life too. It's a symbol of conviction and that's why you will never destroy it, was a real awe inspiring moment. It really defined what a true pirate was.

8. Straw Hat's farewell to Vivi:
The Straw Hat's farewell to Vivi was really emotional. The way they told her that no matter where they go and no matter how far they are they would always be friends was a great moment that you can do nothing but smile.

9. Luffy vs Usopp:
Usopp challenges Luffy as he decides to leave Going Merry ship, with which Usopp has got attached to, and get a new one as it's totally damaged. But as Usopp is very weak compared to Luffy, he is defeated in a single punch though Usopp plans the fight strategically well. Later Luffy cries for having to hurt his nakama and leaving Going Merry forever.

10. Corazon's Death:
Corazon fights for Law till the end to make him safe from Doflamingo.

Badass Moments:

  1. Zoro's sacrifice:
  2.  Zoro asks Bartholomew Kuma to kill Zoro in place of Luffy as no one is in a fighting condition and Kuma must take Luffy as he has a very high bounty on his head. Kuma, amused by this, asks Zoro to survive the pain-ball of Luffy in exchange of leaving everyone alive which leaves Zoro bleeding to near death.

2. March to Franky's HouseUsopp has been beaten very badly and all his money has been stolen. Luffy and his nakama barges into Franky's house for revenge.

3. Luffy challenges the World Government:
Nico Robin, caught by the world government, is destined to die. Luffy and his crew challenges the world government (which means death) in order to save Robin!

4. Shanks looses his arm for kid Luffy and later gives him his straw hat:
Luffy is attacked by a sea monster but Shanks saves him in time but has to sacrifice his left arm. Later he offers Luffy his own Straw Hat and aks him to return it to him only after being a great pirate some day.

5. Luffy defeats Pacifista:
After 2 years of training, Luffy learns how to use Haki and defeats Pacisfista (whom the whole crew couldnt defeat together) as if it was nothing.

6. Luffy's Conqueror Haki moments in Luffy vs 10,000 Fishman, War etc
Conqueror Haki is possessed by one in a million person which has the blood of the king. When used, the neighboring beings will become unconscious if they posses a weak will.
